Unfortunately, they also said the next PC-side patch would negate the multiplayer sync. Don't mess with playing on cracked servers. If you want to play with friends, have each download the same version from torrent. From there, create a VPN through Tunngle (easy), and start a new Borderlands game on LAN mode; it's built-in to the game. This works flawlessly on Borderlands 1,2.

TIP: In my googling, I found this page to be GREAT on some extra (albeit advanced) configuration items for Borderlands. You dont need this page to make lan work, but you might like some of the hidden configurations that are basic to most games these days: I recently got 2 copies of the borderlands 1 + 2 from humble bundle, and after playing a little borderlands 1 single player, I knew friends were going to want to play this, so I set about verifying the lan works before buying my other copies.

To my surprise, I spent many HOURS (in frustration) trying to figure out how to get local lan play working! That includes googling, reading, testing solutions from others that did not help me at all. (clue: it wasn't my firewall, my nic card or protocol order, and forcebindip also did not help me at all). But finally, I was able to piece together the best parts of some of my research, and found the solution! So just a few minutes ago I figured out how to do it and felt the need to share it with the world so that others could benefit more quickly.

Most other games with LAN play are much more intuitive: you start up all your games, and then someone hosts a game, others see the host's game, and they join it. But not Borderlands!:-/ I'm typing out some extra details here in case this does not solve your specific problem, so that you know what it should be like when it does work. (This was part of my difficulty - not knowing what it should look like when it does work) Here's the background: I have two steam copies of borderlands and a simple home lan / nat router configuration. Here's my instructions that worked for me: Make sure all copies are steam updated / current. I put all steams in offline mode.

I disconnect the router from the internet (truly LAN ONLY). Go to the computer that you wish to be the game host. (Let's say this is local lan ip address of 192.168.1.2). (one way to find your computer's ipv4 address in Windows is to open a command prompt and type 'ipconfig').

Once you know the LAN ip address of the game host machine, then start steam borderlands. In borderlands, on the game host machine, at the main menu, select 'lan game' then 'host public game' and then type in a (arbitrary) host name and press OK. Next you should see the lobby screen and see your character in the top slot of the 4 available player slots. Wait there for others to show up. Adobe acrobat xi pro bittorrent torrent On the (guest) machines that you wish to join the game that the host is serving, you have to create a special icon that specifies the ip address of the server to the borderlands executable.

Instructions to follow. My first mistake in attempting this was using the default shortcut that steam generates for borderlands which specifies 'steam://rungameid/8980'. I changed it to 'steam://rungameid/8980 129.168.1.2' but that does not work!

To avoid my first mistake, locate your steam borderlands executable. The windows 7 and 8 default location is: C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Borderlands Binaries Borderlands.exe Create a Windows shortcut to this executable (right click on it and select 'create shortcut'). Then edit the properties of the shortcut (right click on the newly created shortcut and select 'properties') Put your cursor in the 'target' field, and go to the end of the data in that field (press the 'end' key on your keyboard) and then add a space and add the the ip address of the game host machine.

So MY 'target' field looks like this 'C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Borderlands Binaries Borderlands.exe' 192.168.0.8 Your target field might be a little different for example; the path to your exe could be different but especially it would have YOUR game host machine IP address (not mine) at the end. Press OK button to save the changes to your shortcut. (Now, you can rename your shortcut if you like, and place it somewhere else on your computer if you like.) Double click this special shortcut, and borderlands will start and instead of arriving at the main menu, you should find yourself at the steam borderlands lobby screen, with other LAN players waiting to start the game. Next, I'm going to go buy a couple more humble bundle copies (4 total) and sit back and enjoy some long awaited borderlands single player until the next time my friends and I can get together.:-) I really hope this helps some folks out there!
