I have been practicing drop 2 chords a lot, and I know all the 7 drop2 chords, on all string sets, in all inversions. I stumbled upon this book today, and thought I should check it out to see how I can further advance my drop 2 vocabulary.

However, I see it uses the bebop scale a lot, and also 6 chords. Is this based a lot upon the Barry Harris diminished 6th scale kind of thinking?

Am I correct in saying that the author organizes the chords by using the 6 chord as the home base? It certainly looks like it, when he says that a Maj7, is an extension of the 6 chord. I have organised it the other way around, so I organize all my chords from the 7 chords, and I create a 6 chord by replacing the 7 with the 6. Anyway, is doing a lot of research on Barry's theory a requirement for going through this book? After reading it for an hour, I feel kind of confused. It seems to me that this is a lot of 'notes' taken from his mind, but not presented to the reader in a pedagogic approach. For example the way he introduces 'tweaking' chords.

On the about section of the book, it is written that the book contains: • An organized practice routine, including fingerboard diagrams as well as standard notation, to fully develop all the concepts mentioned above in a hands-on approach, with a minimum of theory. I don't know where this organized practice routine is supposed to be. To be honest, it feels like the book is a unfinished product, but I would very much love to be wrong about this.

So I hope some forum members can enlighten me. As I've said, I have practiced drop 2 for a long time, but when reading this book it feels like I am reading about something brand new. The way I learned about drop 2 chords, was: 1.
